The safety of your child and our student body as a whole is our number one concern. However, many may not know of the importance of having an automated external defibrillator (AED) available in our academy. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a huge health concern for young and old alike. SCA strikes older Americans at a higher rate, but children are at risk too, especially if they are very physically active or participate in organized sports.
Since an AED was not within our current budget, we actively sought out donations from individuals and local businesses throughout last month. As of yesterday, we have reached our goal of raising $1,217 for the purchase of an AED for the academy. We hope to never have to use this device, but as unpredictable as life is it is comforting to know that our academy is equipped to handle a cardiac emergency should it arise.
Thank you to everyone who helped support our fundraiser! This academy belongs to every single student and parent; it is nothing without the people that fill it every day. Now, due to the generosity of our donors, our academy will be a safer place.
